The Professional edition of Aurigma Graphics Mill expands possibilities of a Standard version with a number of features important for serious imaging tasks, primarily for purposes of a print business. You will find it useful for the following applications:
- pre-press and pre-print preparation
- document management systems
- personalized graphics creation applications
- scientific imaging
- online print order solutions
- ...other solutions involving professional imaging capabilities
Features Highlight
In addition to the core imaging algorithms/operations and visual controls of the Standard edition, the Professional edition has some extended features.
Multi-CPU Environment and x64-Bit Support
Unlike Standard, the Professional edition is able to use all benefits of the modern server platforms. It can increase the performance using parallel calculations for the most important algorithms.
With a Professional edition you will get a 64-bit version of the product to get all benefits of x64-bit platform, if you use one.
Additional File Formats
In addition to the file formats supported by the Standard version, the Professional edition is able to create PDF files - a standard file format for a printing industry. The output PDF file can be both single-page and multi-page.
Professional edition also extends the TIFF format support - it can work with multipage TIFF files (both load and save).
Another important file format the Professional version can deal with is PSD. It can load not just the entire image, but also split it into layers. It can extract both raster and text layers. For text layers you can get all the text parameters, such as font name, size, etc. This unique feature enables you to create a graphics template in Adobe Photoshop, edit layer data, and merge layers together.

Color Management
Aurigma Graphics Mill allows you to convert pixels between different color spaces - RGB, CMYK, grayscale. However, without a special approach the results of such conversion will not be acceptable for printing purposes, as the colors will be too distorted. To avoid this, the Professional version can use ICC color profiles during conversion. It guaranties that the colors remain the same after you convert the image from, say, CMYK to RGB.
Extended Pixel Formats (16-bit Per Channel)
Although the standard color depth for regular images is 8-bit per channel, for certain purposes it is not enough. During multiple conversions and tone corrections colors may be "washed out". To avoid this, extended pixel formats with 16-bit per channel are used.
The Professional edition can load 16-bit per channel bitmaps (unlike the Standard, which automatically reduces them to 8-bit), manipulate with them, and save back to file formats, supporting this color depth (including TIFF and PNG).
